  New arrangement from C.O.

  i think most on here will be familiar with the caller hook up system that many congregations use.

  visit about 2 months ago.

  during our servant and elders meeting he was talking up the importance of meeting attendance and how we "gods spirit appointed men" must take the lead on making every meeting.

  I know they pulled that attendance card on a brother I knew who had a heart condition and no way to attend. He had no car and was in a chair. The Hall was old and the bathrooms weren't handicapped accessible. He couldn't get his chair in the bathroom. Two days after they cut him off from the meeting tie-in he had a heart attack and died from the stress. He wrote me a letter detailing how unloving the elders were that came to tell him this news and it was mailed by the sister he paid to clean his house. She found him dead and saw the letter and mailed it anyway. I believe I posses his last letter. He still donated 10 thousand from his estate to the society.

  Most Witnesses speak and view things in absolutes. The world is bad. They are bad association if they are not Witnesses. Education is bad. That sort of thinking is so damaging. I am glad you have some balance now. The cost was great but you are correct, the sooner the better. Learning and accepting TATT in your forties sucks. Good work Miss.

  Do you think the 'Rama Singh misquote' situation is uncalled for?

  let's be honest with ourselves, even if you have an ax to grind with the wts.

  i mean, the quote in question was merely a statement of what he believed to be a fact, or else he wouldn't have said it.

  there was nothing in the quote (and everyone has the right to make accurate quotes under the fair use doctrine), that even remotely suggested that he was pro-creationism or anything like that.

  If I were to say in writing that "there is as much a chance that neat blue dog was a child predator as there is that I believe in creation." Would it be a big deal if people quoted me as saying "neat blue dog was a child predator"? Or if I were quoted as saying "I believe in creation"? Of course neither is true. Its all in how you quote it chum. If they didn't know they were wrong they would have left it.

  I never did comply with those recommendations unless it was the "Truth" book or something practical like Family happiness" or the like. It was obvious that most books would be repellent to most people. Always thought it was a way to clear the book room shelves.

  How hard is it to attend a congregation outside of the territory where you live? Consequences for doing so.

  It is viewed as "spiritual immaturity" to move from congregation to congregation. But the same article I recall stated that if a family head felt it was in the "spiritual interest" of his family to change that was acceptable. So just say that you felt it would be spiritually advantageous to move. State you do not wish to discuss your reasons. Then fade the hell out of there.

  i've been dating a jw girl for about 4 years and we've recently had a lot of issues with the fact that her family doesn't like that i'm not a jw.

  i've been looking into the religion and am interested in it.

  but is it wrong to join just so i don't lose her?

  Daniel, would you like to join a group that will not give you a present at Xmas? And when you want to give them one they refuse it because its Satanic? Would you like to join a group that would forbid you to talk to your own children if they disagreed with the teachings of the group? (Assuming you are marriage minded). Would you join a group that believe that you should voluntarily die before taking a life saving blood transfusion? Would you join a group that expects you NEVER to miss attending their five meetings, (on 2 days) and looks at you as a weak person if you do? Would you join a group that would expect you to not associate with your own family because they are "worldly"? Lastly would you join a group that might tell your wife to leave you if you later decide that its all bullshit? and all this just for sex? Get it elsewhere.
